What is Tarot

Tarot cards have been used for centuries. Their rich symbolic images can guide a conversation centred on you, your circumstances and the choices before you.

The cards you select—as the querent—are interpreted through their individual meanings, their positions in the layout and the intuitive guidance received during the reading. Together, they can build a broader picture of what may be influencing your present experience.

A Tarot reading may offer a fresh perspective on situations that feel confusing or worrying, help you explore the choices available and bring greater clarity to events for which you may only have part of the information.

For these reasons, Tarot can be a valuable tool for reflection, guidance and personal insight—and the process can also be enjoyable.

My Style of Tarot Card Reading

Your Tarot card reading is completed in three parts. The session is voice recorded, and images of the card spreads are sent to you afterwards.

Part 1: Reading Your Energy

Your energy can tell us a great deal about you and what is happening in your life. Your energy field—your aura—holds the history of your experiences and a range of potential futures. For an in-person reading, I begin by holding or lightly touching your hands for a few minutes. For an online Tarot card reading, the connection is made remotely.

We discuss the information received so that we can begin building a picture of what is happening and where your present choices may lead. You are welcome to ask questions and explain any particular areas you would like the Tarot reading to explore.

This part of the reading establishes a link between my Spirit Guides and yours so that I can receive the information they wish to share with you. You remain in control of what you choose to discuss, and information may also be channelled for you during this part of the reading.

Part 2: The Tarot Cards

The 78-card Rider–Waite Tarot deck is shuffled by you during an in-person reading, or by me on your behalf during an online reading. For an in-person reading, ten or more shuffles are recommended before the deck is fanned face down. Using your left hand, you select ten cards with your right hand and pass them to me face down.

For an online session, I complete this process on your behalf, supported by our energetic connection and your intention for the reading.

I normally use the Pythagorean layout, although other layouts are available when requested in advance. Each card is turned over and explained individually; when all the cards are displayed, the complete layout is read as a whole.

There are no inherently ‘bad’ cards in the Tarot deck, so there is nothing to fear in the cards you select. Some may highlight challenges, changes or future possibilities, bringing awareness to areas of your life that may benefit from greater understanding and conscious choice.

Questions are welcome at any time during the reading.

Part 3: The Oracle Cards

The final part of your reading involves selecting three Oracle cards from The Wisdom of Avalon deck. Its 52 cards are divided into four different types, so choosing three can provide a wide range of information.

The Oracle card guidebook contains messages that have already been channelled per card; your choice of cards determines which messages arise for you. I read and explain those messages and relate them to the rest of your reading.

Available for Events

A Tarot card reader can provide an engaging addition to a wedding, conference or fair. I am available for selected events and will quote according to the length and location of the event and the role you would like me to fulfil. Event readings are usually 15 or 20 minutes, for which I use a focused five-card spread.

The five-card spread is useful when exploring a course of action and works well within a 15–20 minute event-reading timeframe. The first three cards explore where the querent is now and the influences surrounding their experience. Cards four and five indicate what may follow and why, supporting greater understanding and conscious choice.
